It’s not an everyday occurrence that a sex product gets featured in this blog, but I do believe that the Pronto condom deserves this honor (ha). It’s one of those products that most would assume to be already perfect, that there is nothing to add or subtract from it – like a thumb tack, rubber band and the paper clip. It’s only when someone comes along with a clever idea and innovation and we suddenly smack ourselves in the forehead going “why didn’t I think of that?”.

Pronto is a classic example of such a product. Who’d have thought to improve on the condom beside giving it more flavors or texture. And to improve it in such elegance – reducing condom application to an effortless quick fix – like how it is meant to be. Pronto is a condom that can be applied in just a few seconds. Patented and already launched in South Africa, it could easily become a mainstay product and disruptively relegate the standard ones to flaccid sales.

These are the designs that fascinates me – cleverness that lifts an ordinary product right out of its very definition and perception.
