    Some pretty smart designs. I don’t understand why the “one laptop per child” product won an award. I don’t think the laptop is particularly well designed and I think the concept is flawed. I wonder if the judges were pressured to give an award because it sends such a strong social message - bringing the Internet to all the poor children of the world? How could they reject that!

    Personally, I think it would have been a more meaningful and sucessful project to send very good quality desktop computers to each SCHOOL in the poor areas so that the kids would want to go to school and so that the computers would be less likely to be damaged… I noticed that one child in the pictures is balancing his laptop on his head… nice - that’s great!

    Just some thoughts!
